Sports activities
Nature and outdoor activities. Get ready for lots of adventures!
Here at Hotel Blumarea, you can plan your vacation day by day, alternating the peaceful pace of relaxation with the sports activities we recommend you try during your stay in Castelsardo.
Canoa & Kayak
Excursions on the Coghinas River
Canoeing and kayaking are sports suitable for everyone, regardless of age, physical condition, or fitness level.
New Kayak Sardinia offers year-round hourly rentals of sea kayaks and tours along the Coghinas River. Because the river has such a gentle slope and there are no rapids—just a light current—the canoe trip is suitable for everyone: professionals as well as families with children.
The longer of the two routes starts at the Casteldoria Thermal Baths and ends 11 km later at the river’s mouth, after about 4 to 5 hours, in the beautiful setting of San Pietro a Valledoria.
Diving & Snorkeling
Breathtaking diving
The crystal-clear waters off the coast of Sardinia attract more and more diving enthusiasts every year.
The varied landscape of our coastline—which transitions from rocky shores to sandy beaches—and the stunning marine life offer magnificent scenery for both professional divers and those who simply want to go snorkeling.
Batrakos Diving, a Castelsardo, organizza uscite giornaliere con attrezzature e personale qualificato, nonché corsi di immersione per tutte le esigenze.
Wind & Kitesurfing
in Valledoria
Is the sea your passion? The wind and the mild climate create the perfect conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing on the sea or river.
Along the beach at San Pietro a Mare, especially in spring and fall, when the mistral blows across the deserted beaches, various national and international competitions and championships are held. The nature of the seabed promotes the formation of long waves that act as springboards for surfers. During the summer months, however, the winds aren’t as strong, creating ideal conditions for teaching windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Paragliding
Paragliding along the sea
Not only from the ground or the water, but also from above, you can admire the wonderful landscape of our planet from a truly unique perspective.
One of the most famous launch sites in northern Sardinia is located right in the area between the mountains of Castelsardo and Valledoria, a region that offers truly ideal weather and wind conditions.
The courses are organized by the I Griffoni Aeroclub in Sedini, about 10 km from Castelsardo.
Free Climbing
Deep gorges and towering, bizarre rock formations line the coast: here, both amateur mountaineers and free climbers will find their ideal setting. In the spring and fall, Sardinia attracts traditional climbers, free climbers, and beginners looking to try their hand at this sport.
Canyoning, rock climbing on red and gray granite cliffs overlooking the sea, or climbing. Here you’ll find everything an athlete could want. Near Mount Ruiu, 24 km from the hotel, there is a rock-climbing area, while in Laerru, 21 km from the hotel, lies the Conca de Caddu, a ravine in the cliffs where 40 different climbing routes have been established.
Riding
In addition to its beaches, Sardinia is also famous for its horses. A passion that has developed in parallel with traditional horse breeding and horseback riding as a pastime. The historical significance of the horse is linked to several major events: the Cavalcata Sarda, the Sartiglia, and the breakneck horse race in S’Ardia Sedilo, held in the summer.
In Sedini, located about 10 km from the hotel, there is a riding center that offers lessons for both beginners and experienced riders.
