Alghero

Located on the northwest coast, Alghero still shows traces of its Catalan past. The town boasts a charming Gothic-style historic centre that includes the Cathedral of St. Mary, Guillot Palace and the 14th-century Church of St. Francis, the Coral Museum and a long natural inlet overlooking the emerald sea. The caves of Neptune are the most important in Sardinia: they are located in Alghero, extend for about 6 km and have been excavated over millions of years by fresh water. They can be reached by ferry or via a staircase of about 600 steps, which offers spectacular views of the sea and coastline.

The Maddalena Archipelago

Consisting of seven major islands, the Maddalena archipelago is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (declared in 1994) of Sardinia. Its waters are clear and clean and welcome snorkelling enthusiasts every year in search of unspoilt seabed in the Mediterranean Sea. Half-day or full-day excursions by boat are available, allowing you to visit small beaches and coves that can only be reached by sea, with unspoilt nature and breathtaking beauty. If you wish to stay on the coast and visit the beautiful beaches of Sardinia, Castelsardo is just over 30 km from Porto Torres, where you can embark on an excursion to the Asinara Park: an unspoilt island with flora and fauna unique in the Mediterranean.

60 km south of Castelsardo is Stintino: a fishing village with the beautiful La Pelosa beach, known for its white sand and emerald waters. From here, it is possible to continue on to Alghero and visit the famous Neptune’s Caves.

To the north, however, a 30-minute drive, you can reachIsola Rossa and the Costa Paradiso. On the most extreme tip of Sardinia, you can visit Santa Teresa di Gallura and Palau, from where you can embark on a beautiful boat excursion in the La Maddalena Archipelago Park with its Spargi island, S. Maria and Budelli with its magical pink beach.

Taking the ferry from Santa Teresa di Gallura, in 50 minutes you are directly in Bonifacio, on French territory, discovering the countless beauties of Corsica.

If you want to spend an unforgettable day in the interior of our land, we suggest you visit the Basilica of Saccargia, the Santu Antine nuraghe, one of the most important nuragic palaces on the island, with the possibility of tasting typical local products.

And you cannot miss, the famous Costa Smeralda: in fact, with an hour’s drive you can directly reach the towns of Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo.
